GrampaSaidSo
Welcome back to GrampaSaidSo
Welcome to GrampaSaidSo – a resource for parents, grandparents and senior citizens in living with youngsters through to old age or, as my new tag line runs: perspectives on both ends of the rainbow – growing up and growing older!
Hi, I’m Grampa Starling, author, editor and originator of this blog and it’s accompanying website. I started it to bring to a wider audience both my own and my wife’s wealth of experience in bringing up three children (all now adults) and (so far) two grandchildren. You can see further details of my family, including some pics, on my ‘About GrampaSaidSo‘ page.
This is me, Grampa Starling or, as the world knows me, Paul.
I first started the blog as a resource for parents, grandparents and carers/guardians of children. And, being a grandparent myself and not so young as I was, it seemed expedient to include topics of relevance for senior citizens too.
Becoming a Grandparent is an exciting time; I’m a grandparent twice and each time was special. Becoming a parent was special too but becoming a grandparent is a whole different ball game and brings with it a new set of responsibilities. GrampaSaidSo recognises this and aims to provide you with a place where you can learn, share and interact with other parents and grandparents to help you get the most out of that special relationship with your children and grandchildren. It also recognises the challenges and milestones of growing older and seeks to cater to these needs too.
My plan is that as it develops the blog should provide an ever expanding repository of useful articles, tips and resources with fresh content added regularly including (hopefully) interviews with experts; ‘how-to’ instructional articles and audio/video dealing with current hot topics related to: child welfare; gifts and presents; health and safety; parenting; services; tips and guides; senior citizen issues, and much more.
Backing up this blog is my website which I use mainly as a resource of ‘on-topic’ articles by guest authors along with other resources and nuggets of wisdom. Also included in the web site is a regularly updated section, Help A Reporter Out (or HARO for short), containing requests from reporters asking for help with various projects they’re working on and selected for their relationship to parenting and aging issues. These tend to be short lived articles since they all have ‘respond by’ dates.
I’m concerned that this blog remains accurate and useful to my readers. If you come across any link that either fails to work or leads to an unexpected page please let me know giving details of the page you were on when clicking the link and the link you clicked. Similarly, if you find any information you believe to be either false or out of date, or something you believe is objectionable and which you would like to see removed, let me know and I’ll look in to it. You can do this either by leaving a comment or emailing me – see my contacts page.
Please visit the blog regularly for fresh ideas or, better still, click on the RSS button you will find at the top each article to get feeds posted to you whenever the site is updated. Best of luck to you Grampa and this blog of yours. Checked out your hypnotics blog and it looks like this one. I don’t see anything wrong with that, but I would suggest using a slightly different theme. Just my two cents.

Hey, thanks for your comment Terry. Yes, I know what you mean about using similar themes and it’s something I’ve been thinking about. I’ll keep it mind for if ever I get a quiet few minutes.
Hi, this is Terry again and thanks for the email. I would love to submit articles for this site. There’s nothing wrong about sharing information to people right? Thanks again!
By the way, I’ve found a sort of a bug or glitch on the site. I’ll email you the details.

Thanks Terry – it’s all sorted now.
