Who is Grampa Starling?

My son (Chris) and eldest grandson (Oliver) with me enjoying a recent birthday of mine. I guess Oliver must have been about 9 months here.

Hi. My name is Paul Shipgood and I am Grampa Starling, author of ‘GrampaSaidSo.com’.

I am 59 years old and have been married to Sue, my beloved wife, for over thirty years; we have three grown up children and two grandsons.

Along with my wife I have many years of experience in bringing up kids together with all the joy and tears and heartache they bring with them. But I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

I have always worked in administrative roles but now find myself on the employment scrap-heap; no one, it seems, wants to employ a 59 year old out of work administrator despite all my many years of experience and commitment. As an alternative means of supporting myself and my family I am now in the process of setting up an online business: don’t let anyone tell you this job is a cinch! I’ve been at it now for over four months and have yet to see any serious return for my efforts. Having tried the usual routes of MLM, etc and found them to be wanting I have now turned my hand to writing my blog, GrampaSaidSo, not only as a resource for parents, grandparents and guardians/carers of children in bringing up children responsibly and safely; but also for senior citizens who, like me, aren’t yet ready to throw in the towel.
